Chiropractic Manipulative therapy (CMT)

Involves manipulation or adjustment of the spine or joints in the extremities. It is performed under a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust (HVLA). In short, it is very fast and painless. Its purpose is to correct postural abnormalities, return mobility to restricted joint(s), normalize function of the nervous system, and to enhance the body’s ability to heal itself.

Therapuetic Ultrasound

Works to decrease muscle tightness and improve circulation. The mechanism of action is as follow: the ultrasound head produces sound waves. These sound waves penetrate the body, slowing as they pass through various layers of fat, muscle, and stopping at bone. Within the treated area, heat is produced as the sound waves slow and stop, promoting increased blood circulation and causing muscle relaxation. Benefits include: speeding up the healing process by increasing blood flow to the area, reducing pain and inflammation, and massaging the tendons/ligaments thus reducing scar tissue and decreasing strain. It is a very good protocol for sprains, carpal tunnel, plantar fascitis, scar tissue, shoulder problems, etc.

Interferrential Electro-Therapy

Is usually involved in the early treatment stages, especially right after an injury. Ice and/or heat might be used in combination with this modality. It works by breaking muscle spasm and controlling pain. Tiny amounts of electrical impulses are induced within the vicinity of the injured tissue. These electrical impulses (waves) intersect below the surface of the skin, a low-frequency stimulation is created. This prompts the body to secrete endorphins and other natural pain killers to help relieve pain. Benefits are reduced painful symptoms, decreased local swelling, muscle tone promotion, normal movements restoration, leading to faster healing process

Myofascial Release Therapy

Involves applying pressure to myofascial “knots” in a muscle known as “trigger points” or muscular adhesions. Depending on the severity, these muscular adhesions can produce moderate to excruciating pain, nerve impingement and inflammation. Thus, myofascial release is extremely effective technique in treating chronic pain. When properly used in patient care, the result of this technique is immediate. It decreases pain, increases range of motion, and improves flexibility.

Kinesiotaping

Involves applying tape over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement. Unlike conventional taping method it is non-restrictive. The tape normally lasts 3-5 days and provides support between treatments. It is most commonly seen on professional and Olympic athletes, but is also helpful to the whole general public. Not only does it protect an injured muscle but also has the ability to activate muscle groups to functional level. Moreover, the tape also increases surface area overlying the injured tissue thereby increasing blood and lymph circulation.

Nutritional Counseling

Nutrition has a profound impact on your health. While you are undergoing treatment, we will address and guide your particular dietary needs. If you are missing nutrients, your body has to work harder to compensate for that loss. Having a balanced diet can increase your energy levels, improve your mood and promote weight loss, and boost your immune system for healing.
